Friday, October 10, 2003 ~ Indian Summer

After an early frost at the end of September, the gardening season ended early this year. Of course, the Indian summer we are enjoying now is great for getting the garden cleaned up and tucked in for the winter. That is, if you can stand the hoards of lady beetles out there!!

What follows are a few photos from the last part of summer. As you can see, our Victoria water lily bloomed this year…several times, actually! The flower is huge and smells like pineapple! It is unique in that the first night it opens it is snow white. It closes up in the morning and opens the second evening deep pink.

Now that things are coming to a close in the garden, it is time to start thinking about the coming holiday season. Our annual Christmas on the Quasky Diagonal is coming up on November 8 and 9…mark your calendars!! More details will be posted on our website soon!
