Tuesday, May 14, 2002 ~ Rain, Rain Go Away

What a yucky weekend…it was rainy, windy, and cold. Definitely not a very good Mother’s Day. The garden needed a good soaking, though, and the hostas are growing by leaps and bounds! Now we need some warm, sunny days and the plants and I would both be happy!

We now have most all of the water plants that we’ll have for the season. Last week our tropical lilies came in. The plants look fantastic and many of them are blooming. The colors are so rich and vivid! Some of the tropical lilies have pads that are boldly splashed with maroon. The Mosaic Plant is also here, but it is still a little too early to put that outdoors. It is extremely sensitive to cool temperatures.

Don’t forget our Hyper-Tufa Trough Planting Workshop is coming up on June 1st. If you’ve got a trough that needs planting, bring it along and trough expert Gary Whittenbaugh will help you plant it and make it look great! We’ll provide the special potting mix and have a variety of suitable plants to choose from.

If you weren’t able to make it to our Spring In The Country Open House last month, I’ve added an article that appeared in the Winthrop News to the Hot Off The Press section. It gives a good rundown of what was discussed
